About the role
This position will be an electrics factory/engineered modernizations crane control automation engineer position responsible for hardware selection, program development, and implementation necessary for semi-automated to fully automated electric overhead and portal cranes for Region Americas.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of Product lines - Legacy, EOT and Portal Cranes
- Engineering design, testing and commissioning of crane control systems.
- Perform engineering tasks using established procedures. These include but are not limited to component selection, system layout, automation control programming, and system documentation.
- Generate system architecture and automation network drawings.
- Automation project planning, scheduling, design execution, and performance to budget from inquiry through start-up.
- System testing and troubleshooting of control programs.
- Troubleshooting and updating existing control programs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 yearsâ experience as an Automation Engineer working with motion and motor control products.
- Excellent understanding of electricity, motor control electrical circuits, and analog-digital input/output.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting motor control circuits utilizing electromagnetic devices and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- A working knowledge of Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC programming software.
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics and vendor application drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Verbal and written communication plays a key role in this position.
- The ability to work at heights up to 100 feet off the ground.
- Travel estimated at 20% to meet with customers, commission equipment, and witness product testing at our manufacturing plant.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or relevant engineering field) required.
