Essential Functions
- Possess strong interpersonal skills including the ability to lead and manage large scopes of work and assist in department and company operations.
- Serve in the chargeable role of Senior/Principal Engineer role for clients and acts as the equivalent of a Senior Engineering Manager within PERC.
- Possesses minimum 10 years’ experience in the implementation and programming of various technologies: PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA applications.
- Look to expand PERC’s capabilities in industrial automation across various markets.
- Collaborate and develop technical and commercial proposals.
- Participate in the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring process of new employees.
- Teach, mentor, grow, and provide advice to department members.
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities with legacy and potential new clients
- Play a central role in technical, commercial, and organizational contributions affecting the organization.
- Ability to read P&IDs and other engineering documents. Ability to provide clients with complex controls solutions by way of narratives and P&ID markups.
- Ability to specify process instrumentation and recommend control systems designs.
- Work both independently and alongside an engineering team to develop both high level and detailed design of industrial control systems.
- Able to lead project teams and manage complex scopes of work with respect to schedule and budget. Ability to act as Project Manager, interfacing with both client and PERC management.
- Report job activity and maintain detailed logs about work activities. Generate regular and ad hoc reports to executive management.
- Ability to meet deadlines working on multiple projects and clients with minimum supervision and taking responsibility for planning and prioritizing tasks.
- Ability to scope, architect, and price solutions prior to project award.
- Hire and manage the engineers, programmers, and designers required to grow the automation team in Lafayette. Interface with Lafayette office management on space and seating requirements.
- Support P&L responsibilities for the automation division with a focus on utilization, gross margin, and cost controls.
- Participate in resource planning, project scoping, and opportunity identification on PERC multidiscipline projects
- Able to manage and mentor personnel both informally and as direct reports
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in industrial automation design and/or programming.
- Strong experience with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Experience developing HMI and/or SCADA applications.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead and manage complex scopes of work.
- Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs and related engineering documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
- Duties performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather and elements.
- Must pass background check and pre-employment/random drug testing.
- List if any travel is required using percentage of time:
- Willing and able to travel up to 10%, including overnight travel to customer locations as business needs dictate.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
