About the role
The Automation Engineering Leader provides strategic leadership and technical direction for automation engineering teams across regions. They oversee both site-based and regional automation engineers and managers, driving operational excellence and setting standards, best practices, and technical frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop multiple teams of automation engineering managers and engineers across regions, establishing training programs, mentorship frameworks, and career development pathways to build technical capabilities and leadership skills.
- Provide direction and technical support for complex engineering issues across the network, driving technician standard work, root cause analysis, and implementing scalable solutions to eliminate critical asset downtime.
- Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for automation teams across your network, ensuring each team is compliant with operational standards and targets.
- Drive adoption of control systems standards, optimal code/parameter sets, and technical frameworks for PLC/PC controllers, SCADA/OEE platforms, and material handling systems.
- Drive network-wide continuous improvement initiatives focused on upskilling the organization and large-scale projects, coordinating cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships to achieve business objectives and operational excellence, with travel up to 20% to support automation engineering operations and ensure consistent implementation of standards and best practices across multiple facilities and regions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or 10+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience.
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- 10+ years of working in industrial controls and automation experience.
- 10+ years of process or production environment related PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis experience.
- 10+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience.
- 10+ years of Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Codesys Ladder Logic and structure programming experience.
- 10+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment experience.
- 10+ years of leading engineering teams or managing technical personnel experience.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering.
- MBA or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Experience with HMI and control network components, including maintenance, troubleshooting, programming and design.
- Experience with programming software such as RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, FT View, and other controls software platforms.
- Experience with manufacturing or complex industry leading Controls at a multi-site or network level.
- Experience developing technical standards and best practices for large-scale automation systems.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
