About the role
Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position plays a crucial role in advancing our manufacturing capabilities through automation projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment installation/modification.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement automation projects to enhance manufacturing processes.
- Research and implement solutions for automation within the organization.
- Design and troubleshoot PLC logic for various manufacturers (Omron, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi).
- Create and update specifications and operating procedures for new and existing equipment.
- Support installation contractors during new equipment installations.
- Teach and train Technical Support members and other Engineers.
- Develop bid documentation and scopes of work for vendors.
- Implement IoT systems and increase cloud-based connectivity.
- Monitor key performance metrics and drive performance optimization.
Requirements
- Self-starter with a strong willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to work as a team and collaborate with other team members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMI design, Controls Design, or programming.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with engineering principles and technical concepts.
- Associates degree in Mechatronics or related field.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in the automotive industry.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in automation engineering.
- Experience with PLCs, HMI design, and Controls Design.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
