About the role

Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position plays a crucial role in advancing our manufacturing capabilities through automation projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment installation/modification.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation projects to enhance manufacturing processes.
• Research and implement solutions for automation within the organization.
• Design and troubleshoot PLC logic for various manufacturers (Omron, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi).
• Create and update specifications and operating procedures for new and existing equipment.
• Support installation contractors during new equipment installations.
• Teach and train Technical Support members and other Engineers.
• Develop bid documentation and scopes of work for vendors.
• Implement IoT systems and increase cloud-based connectivity.
• Monitor key performance metrics and drive performance optimization.

Requirements

• Self-starter with a strong willingness to learn and grow.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with PLCs, HMI design, Controls Design, or programming.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with engineering principles and technical concepts.
• Associates degree in Mechatronics or related field.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in the automotive industry.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in automation engineering.
• Experience with PLCs, HMI design, and Controls Design.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
