About the role
The Automation Engineer II ensures new processes and equipment comply with line of business and global standards. They participate in local and global teams to ensure new equipment and processes are designed to meet User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Interface Agreements (IFA) designed by Novo Nordisk, ensuring the equipment is ready for installation and qualification, as well as successful ramp-up of the equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work with local and global project teams to ensure designs of processes comply with local and global standards.
- Develop interface agreements and align requirements with equipment vendors.
- Develop and implement plans to maintain and improve process control systems.
- Schedule and execute plans in coordination with manufacturing schedules.
- Aid in developing and managing expense budgets for maintaining and improving process control systems.
- Own self-development and initiative to understand the site process control systems.
- Support audits and inspections as Subject Matter Experts (SME) for process control systems.
- Coach and train colleagues and stakeholders in relevant areas.
- Utilize appropriate cLEAN® tools within the main areas of Systematic Problem Solving, process improvement, and project management.
- Operate within compliance with a quality mindset that focuses on risk management and mitigation.
- Implement effective change management.
- Support corporate, plant IT, and local stakeholder initiatives and projects.
- Participate in the development of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and maintenance procedures.
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university required.
- Seven (7) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, and/or packaging systems required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, and/or packaging systems required.
- High School degree/GED with a minimum of nine (9) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, and/or packaging systems may be considered.
- Knowledgeable in the following technologies: SAP EM, PLC, DCS/SCADA, MES, Oracle, MS SQL (databases), Historian, general controls are a plus.
- SAP EWM is a plus.
- Proven expertise (e.g., project management) in planning/organization and project execution, follow-up, and completion required.
- Ability to translate high-level direction into actionable tasks that deliver results using cLEAN®/Six Sigma methodologies a plus.
