Automation Engineer II

Best-in-class provider of customized vibration, motion management, and control feedback solutions serving primarily aerospace, defense, and industrial end-markets. We are seeking a talented Automation Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join our NVH team and contribute to delivering exceptional quality and performance.

About the role

As an Automation Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement sustainable automation solutions that advance our manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including manufacturing, engineering, operations, and quality—to improve operational performance and support day-to-day manufacturing activities.

Responsibilities

• Promote a Safety-First workplace by identifying and closing opportunities for safety improvements.
• Design and implement automation systems for NVH manufacturing processes to improve safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define automation requirements and specifications for new and existing products and processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Create and maintain documentation for automation processes, including standard operating procedures and user manuals.
• Stay up to date with advancements in automation technologies and NVH manufacturing methodologies.
• Provide training and support to team members on automation systems and best practices.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for automation across the division.
• Embrace LEAN manufacturing principles, participate in LEAN events (Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.), and focus on continuous improvement.
• Maintain a continuous improvement (LEAN) mindset to achieve Zero Defects through product and process robustness.
• Successfully manage and implement multiple projects simultaneously.
• Drive collaboration and partnership with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Design teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of industry-related experience.
• Strong knowledge of control systems, PLC programming, and HMI design.
• Proficiency in programming languages to support equipment and robotics.
• Understanding of electrical schematics, control wiring, and instrumentation.
• Experience with automation tools, equipment, and software (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric).
• Proficient with CAD software and simulation tools.
• Experience and understanding of fundamental manufacturing methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact and contribute in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
• Willing to travel up to 10% of the time within the Continental US to support multiple NVH Division plants.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Parker Lord manufacturing processes (e.g., Elastomer Processes, Bonding Processes, Assembly).
• Product design knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge of SCADA tools such as Ignition.
• Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline, MBA, or similar.
