Automation Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician II

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing technician-level engineering activities in support of the development of new automated systems to support MSD’s consumables manufacturing production.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Assemble, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair precision electronic and electro-mechanical devices independently or in high-level consultation with engineers
• Build and wire complex control panels and systems based on drawings, instructions and guidelines
• Design, fabricate, and assemble test fixtures and prototype systems
• Source electronic and mechanical components based on required performance specifications
• Lead and/or substantially contribute to the development of product assembly, test, calibration, and repair procedures
• Maintain tool and equipment inventories for R&D work
• Maintain component inventory for prototype systems
• Understand and follow laboratory safety precautions and ensure compliance with company safety policies

Experience And Qualifications

• Associates’ degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree
• Minimum 4 years of experience
• Experience with prototype or low volume electro-mechanical systems preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Strong mechanical/electrical fundamentals and aptitude
• Ability to operate test and assembly tools and equipment including: multi-meters, soldering and de-soldering tools, inspection equipment, and various machine-shop, hand, and power tools
• Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
• Route wiring using knowledge of standard wiring practices and procedures
• Knowledge of proper wire stripping, termination, crimping and terminal block installation
• General computer skills, including Windows, MS Office, email, internet, software installation, and basic computer setup
• Working knowledge of Excel for basic manipulation and analysis of test data
• Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact schedules, accuracy and reliability of data, and product quality
• Able to independently complete assignments with minimal supervision
• Able to work in a team oriented environment

• This position is performed in a traditional production environment and/or light-manufacturing facility

Compensation Summary

• The annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,100 to $87,900
