Automation Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician II
Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing technician-level engineering activities in support of the development of new automated systems to support MSD’s consumables manufacturing production.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assemble, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair precision electronic and electro-mechanical devices independently or in high-level consultation with engineers
- Build and wire complex control panels and systems based on drawings, instructions and guidelines
- Design, fabricate, and assemble test fixtures and prototype systems
- Source electronic and mechanical components based on required performance specifications
- Lead and/or substantially contribute to the development of product assembly, test, calibration, and repair procedures
- Maintain tool and equipment inventories for R&D work
- Maintain component inventory for prototype systems
- Understand and follow laboratory safety precautions and ensure compliance with company safety policies
Experience And Qualifications
- Associates’ degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree
- Minimum 4 years of experience
- Experience with prototype or low volume electro-mechanical systems preferred
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Strong mechanical/electrical fundamentals and aptitude
- Ability to operate test and assembly tools and equipment including: multi-meters, soldering and de-soldering tools, inspection equipment, and various machine-shop, hand, and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
- Route wiring using knowledge of standard wiring practices and procedures
- Knowledge of proper wire stripping, termination, crimping and terminal block installation
- General computer skills, including Windows, MS Office, email, internet, software installation, and basic computer setup
- Working knowledge of Excel for basic manipulation and analysis of test data
- Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact schedules, accuracy and reliability of data, and product quality
- Able to independently complete assignments with minimal supervision
- Able to work in a team oriented environment

- This position is performed in a traditional production environment and/or light-manufacturing facility
Compensation Summary
- The annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,100 to $87,900
