About the role

An Automatiker/in is a specialist who plans, builds, programs, and commissions electrical controls and automation systems. They work in various industries to ensure machines and production facilities run efficiently and reliably.

• Control cabinet construction: wiring and assembly of controls and switchgear
• Programming: creation and adaptation of software for machine controls
• Troubleshooting and maintenance: diagnosing and resolving technical issues in systems
• Commissioning: testing sensors, actuators, and control systems to ensure smooth operation of machines and facilities
• Electrical schematics: working with circuit diagrams and technical drawings to correctly wire systems

In addition to expertise in electrical engineering and automation, you will also gain broad knowledge of mechanics during the apprenticeship.

Training details

• Duration: 4 years
• Vocational school: Bildungszentrum für Technik BZT in Frauenfeld
  • 2nd year: 2 days per week
  • 4th year: 1 day per week
