About the role
The Automatic Door Associate Technician supports a certified Automatic Door Technician in the installation, commissioning, and servicing of automatic door systems. In this role, the Associate will receive hands-on training and education to meet or exceed the knowledge of ANSI/BHMA standards for Automatic Doors.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation of new automatic door systems, including frames, rails, openers, and control systems, according to blueprints and specifications.
- Receive training on the types, makes, and models of automatic doors and learn to differentiate the requirements of each.
- Learn to perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on various automatic door systems, including sliding, swinging, and revolving doors.
- Develop skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
- Support installations and repairs to ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes, under the verification of a Certified Automatic Door Technician.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate conduct while on worksites and in the presence of clients.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge in the proper use of hand and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including wiring diagrams, control panels, and sensors.
- Construction industry experience preferred but not required.

Environmental Adaptability
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, work in various environments (indoors and outdoors), and climb ladders.
- Significant field and client interactions on construction job sites, which may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, and/or climbing stairs.
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.
- Exposure to a variety of temperature and weather conditions.
