About the role

Operate an automated plating line, including loading and unloading plating racks, packaging plated parts, and programming the automated processing system based on detailed instructions. Work closely with the Lab Technician to maintain chemical and treatment application standards.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect parts to verify conformity to quality requirements.
• Check plating thickness at established frequencies and perform plating adhesion tests as needed.
• Operate and maintain waste-water treatment facilities, including cleaning and maintenance tasks as outlined in work instructions.
• Prepare orders for arrival and departure with proper identification and packaging, including preliminary contamination checks from neighboring cells (e.g., Mill, Detail, Foundry, or Forge).
• Operate straighteners, cleaners, and sanders.
• Perform daily system checks to ensure operational standards and report discrepancies to the Lab Technician.
• Assist maintenance in problem detection and resolution.
• Manage inventory control using computers, bar coding, and other technologies to improve process efficiency.
• Clean membranes and transfer chemicals from barrels to smaller tanks as necessary.
• Detect quantity discrepancies, defective materials, or unusual conditions and report them to supervision.
• Complete data transactions as required.
• Perform lubrication, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
• Follow all job-related Quality Management System operating procedures and work instructions.
• Adhere to safety guidelines, wear required safety equipment, and handle plating chemicals properly.
• Report any problems to supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six to twelve months of related experience and/or training.
• Specialized training in working with chemicals, waste-water treatment, and associated machinery.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheets and computerized functions.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.
• Ability to handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Skills

• Operation of automated plating lines and related machinery (e.g., straighteners, cleaners, sanders).
• Knowledge of chemical and waste-water treatment processes.
• Proficiency in using computers, bar coding, and inventory management systems.
• Basic mathematical problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail for quality inspection and process control.

Physical Demands

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs with the use of jib cranes and other lifting devices.
• Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to walk, talk, and hear.
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• May be required to taste or smell chemicals as part of quality control.

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasional exposure to loud continuous noise, moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment.
• Mandatory use of safety equipment and apparel at all times.

Pay

$22.71 - $24.68 yearly salary.
