Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week
Responsibilities
- Develop fully parametric 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies based on detailed written briefs.
- Edit and update existing parametric CAD models to reflect evolving requirements and ensure manufacturability.
- Audit and review CAD models for dimensional accuracy and alignment with design intent.
- Support AI model training by delivering consistent, high-quality CAD data and clear documentation.
- Apply deep working knowledge of manufacturing processes to optimize designs for production.
- Communicate design rationale, feedback, and technical insights clearly in writing and verbally.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience with parametric CAD platforms, ideally FreeCAD, Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
- Proven application of GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5 or equivalent) in real-world projects.
- Demonstrated DFM expertise across at least 2-3 manufacturing processes relevant to the project scope.
- Strong relevant experience in model editing tasks and complex model creation assignments.
- Proven ability to tackle assembly-level modeling, not just single-part tasks.
- Experience in reverse engineering workflows, such as scan-to-CAD or point cloud conversions, is highly valued.
