About the role
The Auto Glass Technician plays a crucial role at Safelite, focusing on vehicle glass repair and replacement services. They also handle recalibrations and diagnostics, ensuring customer safety and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at Safelite Shops and Mobile Glass Shops.
- Clean customer vehicles after every job.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
- Proficiently operate Safelite tools and technologies such as True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order systems, and MRM technology.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles.
- Communicate with customers in-person, via text, and on the phone; promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and any other required licenses.
- Required Safelite SafeTech™ certification.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools.
- Problem-solving and ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret the English language and technical directions.
- Willingness to maintain professional appearance and adhere to company uniform and PPE policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces, bending, twisting, and operating various hand and power tools.
- Operating a motor vehicle safely and effectively.
- Using computerized diagnostic tools to complete recalibrations and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintaining professionalism and providing excellent customer service.
- Working with chemicals as required by the “Safelite Way of Fitting”.
- Working flexible hours to accommodate customer needs.
- Reading, writing, and interpreting the English language and technical directions.
- Communicating orally and written.
- Maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to company uniform and PPE policies.
- Working with cameras, GPS, and other tracking technologies to ensure safety and compliance.
