About the role

The Auto Glass Technician plays a crucial role at Safelite, focusing on vehicle glass repair and replacement services. They also handle recalibrations and diagnostics, ensuring customer safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at Safelite Shops and Mobile Glass Shops.
  • Clean customer vehicles after every job.
  • Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
  • Proficiently operate Safelite tools and technologies such as True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order systems, and MRM technology.
  • Safely operate company and customer vehicles.
  • Communicate with customers in-person, via text, and on the phone; promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and any other required licenses.
  • Required Safelite SafeTech™ certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools.
  • Problem-solving and ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret the English language and technical directions.
  • Willingness to maintain professional appearance and adhere to company uniform and PPE policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces, bending, twisting, and operating various hand and power tools.
  • Operating a motor vehicle safely and effectively.
  • Using computerized diagnostic tools to complete recalibrations and troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintaining professionalism and providing excellent customer service.
  • Working with chemicals as required by the “Safelite Way of Fitting”.
  • Working flexible hours to accommodate customer needs.
  • Reading, writing, and interpreting the English language and technical directions.
  • Communicating orally and written.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to company uniform and PPE policies.
  • Working with cameras, GPS, and other tracking technologies to ensure safety and compliance.
