About the role
The Auto Body Technician at Gerber Collision & Glass is responsible for providing exceptional and successful customer experiences through meticulous vehicle repair. This position requires a combination of technical skills and dedication to delivering high-quality service.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute repair work according to customer needs and job orders.
- Prepare cost estimates for customers and use various tools like cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins for deeper dents.
- Realign car chassis and frames to fix structural damage.
- Remove and replace damaged vehicle sections with new or aftermarket parts.
- Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
- Replace or repair interior parts as necessary.
- Weld and attach parts to fit them properly.
- Prepare and repaint vehicles using factory-specified paint or equivalent materials.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines.
- Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure all work has been executed correctly.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- Ability to read job orders and work independently.
- Experience working with other repairers in an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of repair methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of tool usage relevant to the auto body repair field.
- Physical ability to work safely in a noisy area with odors, lift up to 30 pounds, bend, stretch, kneel, and squat.

$70,000 - $125,000+/year based on experience.
