About the role

The Auto Body Technician at Gerber Collision & Glass is responsible for providing exceptional and successful customer experiences through meticulous vehicle repair. This position requires a thorough understanding of repair methods and tool usage, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute repair work according to customer needs and specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates for customers and use various tools like cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers for repairs.
  • Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins for deeper dents.
  • Realign car chassis and frames to fix structural damage; remove and replace damaged sections with new or aftermarket parts.
  • Replace or repair glass and windshields as necessary; handle interior parts as needed.
  • Weld and attach parts as required; prepare and repaint vehicles using factory-specified paint or equivalent materials.
  • Ensure work orders are completed within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles post-repair.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
  • Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with other repairers in an auto body shop.
  • Thorough knowledge of repair methods and tool usage.
  • Physical abilities to lift up to 30 pounds, work in noisy areas, and perform repairs and inspections in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

Skills

  • Reads and follows job orders.
  • Works independently and collaborates with other repairers.
  • Understands and uses repair methods and tools.

$70,000 - $125,000+/year based on experience.

Schedule
