Auto Body Technician
About the role
The Auto Body Technician is responsible for providing exceptional and successful customer experiences through meticulous vehicle repair. They work closely with other team members to achieve the facility's key performance indicators (KPIs) and serve as a brand ambassador for The Boyd Group.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute repair work based on customer needs and prepare cost estimates.
- Use various tools like cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammer out dents and apply filler resins for dents that cannot be repaired by other means.
- Realign chassis and frames to fix structural damage and replace damaged sections with new or aftermarket parts.
- Replace or repair glass and windshields as necessary and handle interior part replacements.
- Weld and attach parts to complete repairs and prepare vehicles for painting.
- Inspect vehicles after repairs to ensure all work has been completed correctly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- Ability to read job orders and work independently.
- Thorough understanding of auto body repair methods and tool usage.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds, work in noisy areas, and perform tasks in various weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

Pay
Flat Rate Compensation is a performance-based structure directly tied to booked hours. In the event that total compensation in a pay period is less than minimum wage, clocked hours will be calculated with a guarantee of applicable local or state minimum wage, whichever is greater. Compensation is commensurate with skill, education, and experience. This position may also be eligible for Bonus opportunities tied to individual or business initiatives.
