Auto Body Specialist - Heavy-Duty Commercial

$25–$35 per hour, based on experience
Full-time, year-round employment
Monday–Friday
7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
No nights or weekends
What You'll Do
- Inspect damaged vehicles and determine the most effective repair methods
- Disassemble and reassemble heavy-duty commercial trucks and tractors
- Repair and replace damaged steel, aluminum, and fiberglass body components
- Straighten panels, remove dents, and restore body alignment
- Prepare surfaces through sanding, grinding, priming, buffing, and polishing
- Mix and apply automotive paint and refinishing materials for high-quality finishes
- Install body panels, bumpers, trim, mirrors, windshields, and other vehicle components
- Ensure proper fit, finish, and factory-quality appearance
- Read repair estimates, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications
- Prepare repair estimates for customers and insurance companies when required
- Collaborate with fellow technicians to complete repairs efficiently
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards
- Assist with additional shop projects as needed
What We're Looking For
- Experience repairing heavy-duty commercial trucks, tractors, or fleet vehicles
- Ability to disassemble and reassemble commercial vehicles
- Experience repairing steel, aluminum, and fiberglass body components
- Knowledge of automotive paint preparation and refinishing techniques
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components
- Personal tools appropriate for the position
Required Qualifications
- Commercial truck collision repair experience
- Insurance estimating experience (preferred but not required)
- MIG welding or fabrication experience (preferred but not required)
- Experience with vocational trucks or fleet equipment (preferred but not required)
- OEM certification or I-CAR training (preferred but not required)
