Position Summary
The Auto Body Painter is responsible for preparing, refinishing, and painting vehicles to manufacturer and customer specifications. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, precision, and efficiency while maintaining Xclusive Auto Collision's reputation for premium-quality finishes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles and components for paint by sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning surfaces
- Mix and match paint colors using computerized and manual color-matching systems
- Apply primers, base coats, clear coats, and specialty finishes using professional spray equipment
- Perform blending techniques to achieve seamless paint transitions and OEM-quality finishes
- Inspect painted surfaces for quality, consistency, and defects, completing polishing and refinishing as required
- Work closely with body technicians and the production team to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs
- Maintain paint booth cleanliness, equipment, and tools in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and shop standards
- Follow all safety procedures related to paint materials, hazardous waste disposal, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Absorb and assist with custom paint projects, restorations, and specialty refinishing as required
- Maintain accurate records of paint materials used and communicate any supply or equipment needs to management
- Take pride in delivering exceptional workmanship while meeting production deadlines
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Auto Body Painter in a collision repair or automotive refinishing environment
- Strong understanding of automotive paint systems, refinishing techniques, and color matching
- Experience using HVLP spray equipment and modern paint mixing systems
- Ability to read repair orders and follow manufacturer repair and refinishing procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred
