About the Role

Reporting to the Body Shop or designated Manager, you will perform auto paint and body repair work in a production environment. The role requires maintaining high standards for efficiency and observing all safety requirements. You will also perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Responsibilities

• Remove, repair, or replace damaged parts
• Properly fill and sand in preparation for the paint process and paint vehicles
• Use welding, soldering, and cutting torches as required
• Perform visual and feel quality inspection prior to spraying to ensure proper prep for paint
• Ensure vehicles are properly cleaned and dusted prior to painting
• Mask vehicles in preparation for the paint process (as needed)
• Communicate with other technicians to meet production goals and customer standards
• Clean equipment to ensure proper maintenance
• Assist with general shop cleanliness and organization
• Provide prompt and courteous service to all while maintaining a professional appearance and neat work environment
• Resolve customer complaints in a friendly, courteous manner and advise management of serious complaints or incidents
• Practice and promote teamwork, setting a good personal example of attitude and performance
• Inform the Body Shop Supervisor or Manager of all equipment breakdowns and maintenance immediately
• Promote and follow safety policies
• Use safety equipment, including face shields, goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective garments

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred
• 3+ years of experience in paint and body repair
• Automotive/auction experience preferred
• Must be 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license that meets requirements
• May be required to provide sufficient tools to perform the job
• Basic computer skills

The physical activity requirements of the position range from medium to heavy physical work, including:

• Constant: standing, watching, touching, listening, walking, talking, reaching, grasping, stooping, repetitive motion, pulling, bending
• Frequent: balancing, kneeling, crouching, pushing, lifting
• Potential: running, jumping, yelling, or other rapid/forceful movement in emergency situations

Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception, and field of vision comparable to definitions for clerical, administrative, and machine operator (including inspection) positions.

This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather, and slightly elevated ambient noise levels. Minor atmospheric conditions may affect skin or respiratory systems, such as fumes, odors, and dust associated with service station operations.
