About the role

USAA seeks an Auto Appraiser – Photo to investigate, evaluate, and appraise vehicle damage claims for both repairable and total loss vehicles. The role involves delivering exceptional member service, maintaining accurate claim files, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and appraise simple and moderately complex auto physical damage claims
  • Communicate with insureds, internal claims adjusters, and third parties/vendors
  • Review facts of loss and vehicle damage to identify subrogation opportunities
  • Ensure all supporting physical damage documentation is in the claim
  • Provide policyholders with information regarding their coverage, repair estimate, or total loss valuation
  • Support workload surges and CAT response operations as needed
  • Maintain high standards of productivity through effective desk management, timely follow-ups, and accurate mapping of repair plan and timeline
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 1 year of auto appraising experience
  • Progressive knowledge of P&C insurance policy contracts and coverages
  • Working knowledge of estimating losses using CCC or similar estimating platforms
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts

Qualifications

  • Physical demand requirements include reaching, handling, squatting, bending, climbing, and working in body shop and/or salvage yard environments
  • May require the ability to operate a company vehicle within assigned territory
  • May require the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
  • May be required to meet all USAA safe driving requirements including verification of driving record through MVR & possession of valid driver’s license

Skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, contracts, and internal processes/systems/procedures
  • Ability to operate digital tools for evaluating and appraising claims
  • Ability to communicate effectively with insureds, internal claims adjusters, and third parties/vendors
  • Ability to maintain accurate and current claim file documentation
  • Ability to identify and address fraud indicators
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload surges

Pay

The salary range for this position is $57,590 - $103,870. USAA does not provide visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants must not need immigration support (i.e., H-1B, TN, STEM OPT Training Plans, etc.).

Schedule

This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. Individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week.
