About the role

The primary role of the Autism Specialist/BCBA is to support the development, implementation, and refinement of programmatic and individual social and behavioral supports, using strategies based on principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and training to teachers, staff, and families on ABA-based interventions.
  • Assess students' social and behavioral needs and develop individualized support plans.
  • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of these plans, adjusting as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Conduct ongoing data collection and analysis to evaluate the impact of interventions.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to ABA and special education.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or closely related field.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Knowledge of ABA principles and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Current Massachusetts teaching license or ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ABA principles and techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
