Authorization Specialist - Medications

About the role

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a customer-focused Authorization Specialist – Medications. Responsible for reviewing, submitting, monitoring and responding to issues regarding medication prior authorizations for IHA patients. Reviews patient medical history to identify supporting documentation in the patient chart relevant to the medication; contacts insurance companies and obtains authorization for medication.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance companies and obtain authorization.
• Review, submit, monitor and respond to issues regarding medication prior authorizations.
• Perform data collection and data review as required.
• Contact insurance companies via appropriate methods and obtain medication authorizations.
• Obtain urgent authorizations same day and next day.
• Support referrals, authorizations, and patient outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Credentials/Licensure: None.
• Minimum Experience: 1‑3 years’ previous related experience in pharmacy or equivalent medical setting and/or prior authorization experience.
