About the role
Sutter Care at Home - UT provides medical administration support to providers by obtaining referral or prior authorizations for patients to see specialty providers. In Managed Care, this involves processing authorization and referral requests for members in coordination with health plans and contracted providers. The role also supports the Case Management staff and serves as a resource for providers regarding the authorization process.
Responsibilities
- Obtain referral or prior authorizations for patients to see specialty providers.
- Complete referrals and/or authorizations accurately and consistently with minimal supervision.
- Process authorization and referral requests for members in Managed Care, coordinating with health plans and contracted providers.
- Support the Case Management staff by providing necessary information and resources.
- Act as a resource for providers regarding the authorization process.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED
- Automobile Insurance (remote employees excluded)
- Valid Drivers License (remote employees excluded)
Qualifications
- Recent relevant experience (typically acquired within 2 years)
Skills and Knowledge
- Medical terminology
- CPT/HCPCS/ICD-9 coding knowledge
- Knowledge of medical terminology/anatomy
- Discretion and independent judgement, seeking review for significant departures from established guidelines
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word or similar programs)
- Active listening skills; including interpersonal skills and telephone communication
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up

Pay
The compensation range is $22.29 to $28.98 per hour. The base pay may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation includes multiple factors such as experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Eligible positions also receive a comprehensive benefits package.
Schedule
Full Time, 8 days a week, variable weekend requirements, rotating weekends
