About the role

The Audit Readiness Specialist will support the Army Material Command (AMC) in Huntsville, AL, providing audit readiness activities for the Department of Defense. The role focuses on executing audits, remediating weaknesses in business processes and internal controls, particularly related to inventory. Preferred candidates will have experience with Army inventory, be willing to work on-site at Redstone Arsenal, and travel to assist with on-site audit visits.

Responsibilities

  • Support audit remediation activities by documenting, developing, and updating process documentation such as narratives and workflow charts.
  • Create and implement corrective action plans to address identified findings.
  • Conduct, design, and execute recurring testing, with a focus on testing internal controls.
  • Perform and review statement analyses, assess financial information, report results, and analyze financial statement audit reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in accounting and finance.
  • Experience supporting DoD stakeholders and DoD/Army Financial Management.
  • Experience performing financial statement audits, audit readiness services, or audit remediation and sustainment services within DoD or another Federal Government agency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to different sites to support audit visits.
  • On-site work at the customer office in Redstone, AL, several days a week.
  • Active federal SECRET security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Army audit facilitation tools such as A-FACT and DoD audit facilitation/remediation.
  • Experience in auditing areas such as Army logistics, supplies, inventory, PP&E, real property, environmental disposal, and/or liabilities.
  • One of the following professional certifications: CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM, or CDFM.
