Audit & Controls Consultant (CPA/SOX)

Role Overview

We are partnering with a premier AI research lab to engage experienced audit and controls professionals. In this remote consulting role, you will translate real-world external audit and internal SOX control work into highly structured data, teaching frontier AI systems how to reason and operate like seasoned auditors.

Key Responsibilities

• Design realistic audit scenarios based on your professional experience, covering risk assessment, audit planning, and scoping.
• Develop substantive fieldwork, sampling methodologies, and testing workpapers.
• Create documentation for SOX controls, walkthroughs, issue tracking, and remediation validation.
• Review and compare AI-generated audit outputs to ensure accuracy, evidential support, and sound professional judgment.
• Provide clear, detailed written feedback to improve AI performance in complex accounting tasks.

Ideal Qualifications

• Strong background in public accounting audit (Big 4 or regional firm) and/or internal audit/SOX controls.
• Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) designation is highly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Exceptional written communication skills and a meticulous attention to detail.

Project Terms & Compensation

• Format: 100% remote, independent contractor role. Enjoy complete flexibility to set your own schedule.
• Compensation: Highly competitive hourly rates ranging from $80.00 to $120.00 per hour, depending on your certifications and project performance.
• Payments: Processed securely and weekly via Stripe or Wise.
