About the role

Responsibilities

• Performs basic audit procedures, including testing transactions and reviewing financial records.
• Verifies accuracy of financial data by comparing items to supporting documentation.
• Prepares audit work papers by documenting audit tests and findings.
• Assists in evaluating internal controls and identifying potential risks or compliance issues.
• Communicates audit findings and discrepancies to audit team members.
• Follows audit plans and ensures adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and supporting audit team members.
• Delivers professional and responsive client service by clearly communicating with clients and team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 0-3 years of experience.
• Pursuing CPA certification is a plus.
• Government or non-profit audit experience preferred.
• Ability to travel 80% of the time around the Chicagoland area.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,000–$70,000, with the final offer determined based on relevant experience, education, skill set, and professional certifications. Offers are typically not made at the top of the range to allow room for future growth and salary progression.
