Position Summary
The Audio Engineer provides all sound needs for Bayview and ensures consistent quality in mixing sound for the band, vocals at services, events, and other ministries in multiple venues. They work under the direction of the Purpose Pastor of Magnification to ensure sound quality meets or exceeds the standards for ideal mix, from planning and stage plotting to the worship experience in venues throughout the Church.
Representative Duties
- Ensure sound audio during the worship experience and events at Bayview is delivered with clarity, balance, and impact
- Work the sound board and manage all the sound systems – mics, speakers, etc.
- Handle sound for worship services, all choir rehearsals, weddings, funerals, and other special events
- Mix audio during services and events, adjusting levels as needed for music, speaking, and transitions
- Tune equipment to optimize audio performance of equipment and room acoustics with the desired audio quality
- Work the sound board and manage all the sound system efficiently in the Sanctuary, MLK, and on occasion outside on campus
- Provide consistent audio quality in sound for spoken words, vocals, and instruments
- Ensure transitions, levels, music, and speaking are maintained during worship experiences and events with clarity and balance
- Run full sound checks with worship team, musicians, and speakers before services and events
- Work with the worship team and the production team to prepare for upcoming services and events
- Arrive early before services and events to set up, direct, collaborate, design, do technical checks, and prepare
- Maintain microphones, monitors, speakers, and all sound equipment to ensure Bayview has optimal sound quality presented for all services and events
- Collaborate with the Purpose Pastor of Magnification to purchase, install, setup, organize, and maintain all sound equipment
- Provide leadership to the audio team ministry partners in developing and growing a successful audio team
- Collaborate with Live Stream Technician for online audio clarity and balance
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a minimum of two years Church audio experience
- Must have a solid understanding of audio mixing, digital consoles, EQ, gain structure, compression, and monitors, etc.
- Must have a strong ear for detail and the ability to react quickly during live services
- Must have a respect for worship flow and cultural sensitivity to Church dynamics
Education
- Minimum two-years’ experience in Audio production
- Preferred specialized certification in Sound Production/Audio Engineering, or Associate’s degree in Music Production/Audio Engineering, or Bachelor’s degree in Audio, Sound, Music, or Recording Arts

- Physical capacity to perform labor-intensive tasks, including walking for extended periods, lifting at least 50 pounds

- Proficiency in following both written and verbal directions
