Job Responsibilities
- Ensure a well-mixed event for both streaming and event space experience.
- Work with presenters to properly place and track lay microphones.
- Prepare, organize, and track handheld microphones as needed.
- Use and follow the run-of-show document as a guide for proper show flow.
- Partner with other crew members on the execution of audio elements both before and during shows.
- Attend pre-show production meetings with crew to review responsibilities.
- Ensure testing of all show's playback elements for proper playout.
- Follow the event content closely to execute with maximum quality.
- Be responsible for ensuring that proper audio levels for records are precise.
- Program and operate mixers, microphones, and all ancillary audio gear.
- Conduct audio gear configuration upgrades and develop new show elements.
- Perform regular maintenance checks on audio equipment.
- Troubleshoot and address technical issues during events: signal flow, clocking, networking, RF, etc.
- Ensure clear and balanced sound for all elements, including vocals, instruments, and other audio sources.
- Keep all audio equipment functioning properly and up to date.
- Commission new audio equipment and systems.
- Tune PA systems.
- Subject matter expert on all broadcast and live audio equipment including consoles, intercom systems, teleconferencing integration, etc.
- RF Coordination.
- Record voice-overs, productions, or other types of audio content.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all audio production questions for unique shows or new asks.
- Develop workflows for changing show and client needs: integrating new technologies into event spaces, expanding or modifying existing systems, upgrading system elements.
- Partner closely with production operators and producers to inform them of workflows, and get their feedback.
- Occasionally help production operators with other event needs.
- Adhere to schedules and accurately record time worked.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proficiency in operating Audio Mixing tools and consoles, specifically ISSL Live L100 Audio Desk and Shure Wireless Workbench.
- Ability to program and operate mixers, microphones, and other audio equipment effectively.
- Good understanding of audio transport standards such as Dante, MADI, and Twinlane.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team, including talent, producers, and directors.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to rapid show-flow changes in a live and fluid environment.
- Excellent control room demeanor, proven leadership skills, team-first attitude and the ability to handle pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to interface with both technical and creative members of the event production ecosystem.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to take a service-oriented approach to this position, with a desire to help clients achieve their best result.
