Job description: Stoel Rives LLP has an immediate opening for an Attorney Recruiting Manager in either our Portland or Seattle office. The Attorney Recruiting Manager oversees lateral associate recruiting for all practice groups and supports elements of the lateral partner recruiting process. The position works closely with firm leadership including the Chief Talent and Recruiting Officer, Practice Group Leaders, Practice Group Directors, and Office Administrators. The position reports to the Chief Talent and Recruiting Officer and supervises one Attorney Recruiting Coordinator.
That's about the role.
Responsibilities: list of essential functions/responsibilities bullet points.
We need to extract each bullet as .
List:
- Lead and manage the full-cycle lateral associate recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluating and selecting candidates, extending offers, and onboarding.
- Partner with practice group leaders to understand strategic hiring needs, practice-specific experience requirements, market conditions, and candidate profiles necessary to support business objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with legal search firms and referral sources to build a highly qualified candidate pipeline.
- Proactively generate and cultivate candidate pools through LinkedIn Recruiter, internal referrals, bar associations and industry organizations, professional networks, and other sourcing tools.
- Review resumes and candidate materials, conduct preliminary assessments, and work with practice group leaders and other partners to identify and recommend high-potential candidates for consideration.
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the interview process, including scheduling, interview preparation, candidate communications, interview feedback collection, and evaluation discussions.
- Lead lateral associate onboarding in collaboration with other administrative departments.
- Support the lateral partner recruiting process including facilitating the candidate interview and evaluation process, post-offer administrative processes, and onboarding; facilitate a positive recruitment experience for all lateral partner candidates.
- Supervise and mentor the Attorney Recruiting Coordinator, establishing priorities, workflows, and development opportunities while ensuring accurate and efficient recruiting operations.
- Other duties and tasks may be assigned.
That's responsibilities.
Essential Capabilities: list of capabilities (soft skills). Could be under Requirements or Skills. The posting includes "Essential Capabilities" then a long list. Also "Technical Knowledge" then list. Then "Physical/Mental Capabilities". Then "Education & Experience". Then "NORMAL WORK HOURS". Then "How You Will Live Life Well at Stoel Rives: Compensation, Benefits, and More!" includes pay range, benefits.
We need to map to sections: About the role (intro), Responsibilities (essential functions), Requirements (maybe education & experience?), Qualifications (maybe essential capabilities?), Skills (technical knowledge?), Benefits, Pay, Schedule.
We need to avoid filler like "commensurate with experience". Not present.
We need to include Pay section only if posting states pay range: yes, $95,000 - $150,000.
Schedule: posting says "Regular office hours are 8:30 - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday." Also hybrid position, exempt, not eligible for overtime. So schedule info present.
Benefits: they list benefits: paid family & medical leave, competitive PTO, remote work options, medical, dental, vision, life long-term disability, AD&D, EAP, FSA and Voluntary Life, ADD, and LTC options, generous firm-contributed health savings account, pre-tax transportation/parking plan including employer monthly subsidy of $100 for individuals who work 3+ days/week in the office, annual contribution into employee’s retirement plan. Also annual discretionary bonus. So we have benefits.
Now we need to decide sections.
We could have:
About the role
...
Responsibilities
- ...
Requirements
maybe combine Education & Experience and Essential Capabilities? But we have separate sections for Qualifications and Skills. Let's map: - Qualifications: Education & Experience (Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree, HR certification, or other relevant professional credential is a plus; Minimum of 8-10 years of recruiting experience within a law firm, legal organization, or law school career services office; combination of these experiences is highly desirable; Demonstrated success managing lateral attorney recruitment at multiple levels and across a variety of practice areas, including strategic sourcing, candidate development, interview management, and offer negotiation support; Strong understanding of law firm organizational structures, legal practice areas, attorney career progression, and the competitive legal talent market; Proven ability to build trusted and productive partnerships with firm leadership, practice group leaders, practice area leaders, search firms, and business services colleagues; Exceptional organizational, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.) - Skills: Technical Knowledge (Accurately type 60+ wpm; Proficiency in common office applications, including Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat; Experience with law firm software, such as iManage, Visio, Emburse, Laurel, Aderant, Intapp, Maptician, Box, Workshare Compare, Metadata Assistant, WestlawNext, WestCheck, and InterAction is preferred; Experience with viRecruit, Flo Recruit, Workday, and Microsoft Office applications strongly preferred; experience with recruiting analytics, applicant tracking systems, and event management platforms is also desirable.) Also maybe Physical/Mental Capabilities could be under Skills? But we can include as part of Skills or separate? The instruction says use sections only when posting has real specific content. We could include a Skills section covering technical knowledge and physical/mental capabilities. But we might also include a separate "Capabilities" but not in list of allowed headings. Allowed headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. So we need to fit everything into those. Thus: - About the role: intro paragraph. - Responsibilities: list. - Requirements: maybe include Essential Capabilities? But "Requirements" could be for mandatory requirements like education/experience? However we have Qualifications for that. Let's decide: Requirements: maybe the "Essential Capabilities" (soft skills) as requirements. Qualifications: Education & Experience. Skills: Technical Knowledge + Physical/Mental Capabilities. Benefits: list. Pay: pay range. Schedule: normal work hours. We must not repeat job title as heading. We must not include Job ID etc. We must remove boilerplate: cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning, duplicated lines, application instructions. The posting includes "No recruiters please." That's a line we should drop? It's not boilerplate but it's a instruction to recruiters; maybe considered application instruction? It says "No recruiters please." That's a directive to recruiters not to apply. Could be considered application instruction. Safer to drop it. Also "NORMAL WORK HOURS" heading we will incorporate into Schedule section. Now produce HTML. We need to preserve all substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. We must include all bullet points exactly as given. Let's extract each bullet precisely. From Essential Functions/Responsibilities: "Lead and manage the full-cycle lateral associate recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluating and selecting candidates, extending offers, and onboarding." "Partner with practice group leaders to understand strategic hiring needs, practice-specific experience requirements, market conditions, and candidate profiles necessary to support business objectives." "Develop and maintain strong relationships with legal search firms and referral sources to build a highly qualified candidate pipeline." "Proactively generate and cultivate candidate pools through LinkedIn Recruiter, internal referrals, bar associations and industry organizations, professional networks, and other sourcing tools." "Review resumes and candidate materials, conduct preliminary assessments, and work with practice group leaders and other partners to identify and recommend high-potential candidates for consideration." "Coordinate and manage all aspects of the interview process, including scheduling, interview preparation, candidate communications, interview feedback collection, and evaluation discussions." "Lead lateral associate onboarding in collaboration with other administrative departments." "Support the lateral partner recruiting process including facilitating the candidate interview and evaluation process, post-offer administrative processes, and onboarding; facilitate a positive recruitment experience for all lateral partner candidates." "Supervise and mentor the Attorney Recruiting Coordinator, establishing priorities, workflows, and development opportunities while ensuring accurate and efficient recruiting operations." "Other duties and tasks may be assigned." Now Essential Capabilities list: It's a long sentence with semicolons. We need to break into list items? The instruction: Use- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. The Essential Capabilities is a list separated by semicolons. We should convert each clause into
- . Let's split: - Keep personally identifiable information, personal health information, and attorney/client privileged information confidential; - prioritize daily responsibilities and special projects and readjust as priorities change; - coordinate resources to meet deadlines; - perform multiple tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment; - maintain a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times; - be a constant-learner, flexible, proactive, efficient and resourceful; - take initiative, and follow through; - solve problems; - work independently and in an interactive team environment; - have prompt, regular, and predictable attendance; - have strong organizational, grammar, and proofreading skills; - pay attention to detail; - have outstanding interpersonal and client service skills; - have clear, effective, and professional verbal and written communication skills; - be proficient and fluent in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English. We need to keep the exact wording, but we can remove trailing semicolons. We could split the last into two items? It's a sentence with semicolon. Better to split: "Experience with viRecruit, Flo Recruit, Workday, and Microsoft Office applications strongly preferred" and "experience with recruiting analytics, applicant tracking systems, and event management platforms is also desirable." Now Physical/Mental Capabilities list: - Operate a telephone, personal computer, and all types of photocopy equipment and other necessary office equipment; - read and comprehend handwritten and typed notes or instructions; - type on a computer keyboard in a sitting or standing position for extended periods of time during a 7.5‑hour workday; - learn and effectively use firm style and software applications; - accurately proofread documents; - accurately record and deliver phone messages; - carry files, binders, and pouches of files for short distances.
