About the Role
This is an intermediate professional legal position performing legal services as a criminal prosecutor in the office of the District Attorney. The role involves prosecuting cases and handling other criminal matters, including probation and parole violation hearings and summary appeals. This position assists law enforcement agencies with criminal investigations and charging decisions, and prosecutes cases at all levels of the criminal system from Magisterial District Judge to Appellate level disposition. Trials before a jury or judge are expected. This is a transitional role between entry-level and more experienced prosecutorial positions.
Responsibilities
- Performs legal research and prepares cases for trial or non-trial disposition as deemed appropriate.
- Prepares, drafts, reviews, revises, and approves search warrants, arrest warrants, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Works with law enforcement agencies during criminal investigations to guide and assist the ongoing investigation.
- Prepares witnesses and evidence as part of a team working with a county-wide Grand Jury in criminal cases.
- Evaluates criminal cases for appropriate disposition and reviews proposed dispositions with more experienced attorneys in the office.
- Prepares and presents misdemeanor and felony cases for jury trial.
The position has no supervisory responsibility.
Requirements
- Must be licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
