About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its insurance and personal injury defense practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance defense and general liability litigation and be comfortable managing cases throughout the litigation process. This opportunity offers hybrid/remote flexibility and the chance to work with an experienced team on a diverse range of defense matters throughout New York. The position is based in Farmingdale, NY.

Responsibilities

• Handle insurance and personal injury defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Manage an independent caseload and develop case strategies.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, motion practice, and trials.
• Evaluate liability, damages, exposure, and settlement opportunities.
• Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties.
• Monitor case deadlines and maintain accurate litigation files.
• Collaborate with partners, senior associates, and support staff.

Requirements

• Experience handling insurance defense, personal injury defense, general liability, premises liability, motor vehicle/auto accidents, construction accidents/labor law, wrongful death, property damage, products liability, professional liability, municipal liability, insurance coverage matters.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active New York Bar admission required.
• Prior experience in insurance defense, personal injury defense, or general liability defense required.
• Strong litigation, legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience with pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and case management.
• Strong communication and client-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to handle matters in New York City, Long Island, and surrounding jurisdictions as needed.
