Our client is a respected workers' compensation and civil litigation law firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. The firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Workers' Compensation Attorney to join its Kansas office. This opportunity is well-suited for a smart, skilled, and hardworking litigator looking to build a long-term career in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Handle workers' compensation and civil litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution.
- Provide practical, strategic legal advice to clients and other stakeholders.
- Conduct legal research involving case law, statutes, regulations, and administrative rules.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, legal memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Prepare for and participate in hearings, depositions, mediations, negotiations, and other litigation proceedings.
- Develop case strategies and advocate effectively for clients.
- Negotiate settlements and work toward favorable resolutions.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties.
- Manage multiple cases and competing deadlines while maintaining high-quality work product.
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal professionals across the firm.
- Continue developing substantive knowledge and litigation skills through mentoring and professional training.
- Contribute to a professional, supportive, and team-oriented workplace culture.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to the Kansas and Missouri Bars required; admission to additional states is a plus.
- Experience in workers' compensation and/or civil litigation.
- Strong understanding of legal research and analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy abilities.
- Ability to provide sound, practical legal advice.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and client-service skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience handling workers' compensation matters.
- Experience with hearings, settlement negotiations, depositions, or other litigation proceedings.
- Admission to additional state bars.
- Demonstrated interest in developing a long-term practice in workers' compensation and civil litigation.
