About the role
The State Bar's Client Security Fund (CSF) reimburses those who have lost money or property due to theft or dishonest conduct by a California Attorney. The Ideal Candidate is an attorney with exceptional analytical and drafting skills and extensive experience investigating and analyzing complex legal matters in a variety of areas of law. The ideal candidate also possesses strong oral presentation skills. This is not a litigation or advocacy position but involves applying facts to the law and concluding whether to grant or deny an application. It requires a commitment to public protection and a desire to assist those who may have been a victim of attorney theft. The CSF attorney must provide courteous and professional service to applicants, respondents, State Bar officials and employees, and the general public regarding all Client Security Fund functions.
Responsibilities
- Identify legal issues and recommend appropriate action
- Resolve legal problems through legal research and analysis
- Prepare legal documents, opinions, and memoranda
- Interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, and other legal authorities
- Handle assigned litigation, often taking lead responsibility in case/project management presentations
- Assist in the formulation, determination, and effectuation of management policies of the State Bar
Requirements
- Exceptional analytical and drafting skills
- Extensive experience investigating and analyzing complex legal matters in various areas of law
- Strong oral presentation skills
- A commitment to public protection and assisting victims of attorney theft
Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in California
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
- Experience handling complex legal assignments
- Ability to work independently and under some supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of legal principles and procedures
Pay
Annual salary range: $142,925 to $214,221
Schedule
Exempt position, with up to 4 days of remote work per week allowed.
