About the Role

The Attorney provides legal advice and representation in accordance with the best practices of the profession. This position assists the Director of Immigration Legal Services with internal and external reporting and supervises assigned interns or volunteers. The role collaborates with social work case managers to ensure clients receive holistic services as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Interview individuals seeking legal assistance and advise clients on possible options through proper interpretation of current laws.
  • Refer individuals to agency case managers for holistic services as appropriate.
  • Provide ongoing legal representation, including drafting documents, correspondence, and client applications or petitions.
  • Conduct community outreach related to legal issues.
  • Supervise assigned interns and volunteers.
  • Ensure timely submission of all external and internal program reports.
  • Serve as a liaison between the program and community partners.
  • Complete Continuing Legal Education and meet all licensing requirements for the jurisdiction where licensed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Law Degree (J.D.).
  • Admission to the practice of law in any state and/or Washington, DC (Maryland Bar preferred).
  • One year of experience in immigration law.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (driving is required).

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Public speaking skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally across diverse cultures.

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
