ATTENDING PHYSICIAN XII - GASTROENTEROLOGY

Typical Duties

Provides consultation and follow-up to patients with gastroenterological problems at Cook County Health (CCH) hospitals and clinics
Pulls liver consultations to patients at Cook County Health (CCH)
Edits and guides Residents and Fellows in appropriate management of gastroenterological problems
Performs emergency assignments, as needed
Provides services at Provident, as needed
Provides on-call services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) from an accredited college or university is required
  • Licensed physician in the State of Illinois, or have the ability to obtain licensure prior to the start of employment is required
  • Successfully completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited in Gastroenterology is required
  • Successfully completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited in Internal Medicine is required
  • Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Gastroenterology OR Board eligible and must obtain Board Certification within two (2) years of starting this employment is required
  • Experience in the practice of Gastroenterology procedures is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and experience with all aspects of Gastroenterology and Liver Disorders is preferred
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods of training medical staff to ensure standards of care is preferred
  • Skill to analyze data/information accurately in order to determine and implement an effective and appropriate course of action is preferred
  • Skill to prepare written documents to provide information and/or direction to staff and others is preferred
  • Skill to communicate effectively in order to exchange and/or provide information and/or direction to staff and others is preferred
  • Skill in the practice of Gastroenterology procedures, Liver Biopsy, and Motility Studies is preferred

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Functioning within a healthcare environment
  • Adherence to all hospital and department specific safety requirements

Veteran Preference

To take advantage of this preference, a veteran must meet the minimum qualifications for the position. Coast Guard must submit a certified copy of the military separation from either the Department of Transportation (Before 9/11) or the Department of Homeland Security (After 9/11). Discharge papers must list an Honorable Discharge Status. Discharge papers not listing an Honorable Discharge Status are not acceptable OR A copy of a valid State ID Card or Driver’s License which identifies the holder of the ID as a Veteran, may also be attached to the application at time of filing. If items are not attached, you will not be eligible for Veteran Preference.
