ATTENDING PHYSICIAN, ACHN-BILINGUAL

About the role

The Attending Physician, ACHN-Bilingual provides part-time care to patients as part of the Ambulatory and Community Health Network (ACHN), serving as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Conducts direct patient care sessions per week, as assigned by ACHN clinical leadership
• Functions as a member of the healthcare team in the health center, working collaboratively with mid-level providers
• Participates in staff and other related meetings
• Completes all clinical duties in a timely fashion, including charting of patient visits
• Participates in teaching activities for medical students, house-staff, and other health professionals
• Maintains continuing medical education (CME) and participates in other professional activities
• Works varying hours as determined by changing clinic and CCH needs

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) degree or foreign medical school equivalent is required
• Illinois physician and surgeon license or eligibility to obtain license two weeks prior to hire date is required
• Illinois and Federal controlled substance license or eligibility to obtain license two weeks prior to hire date is required
• Board eligibility or certification in a primary care specialty (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Pediatrics) is required
• To achieve board certification within two years of hire
• Completion of a residency program in a primary care specialty (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Pediatrics) at least thirty days prior to starting employment is required
• Bilingual, Spanish, required with a minimum score of 3 on the bilingual test

Qualifications

• One (1) year of prior experience in primary care practice is preferred
• One (1) year of experience providing medical care to underserved populations is preferred
• One (1) year of experience with electronic medical record documentation is preferred
• Demonstrated attitudes, knowledge, and skills necessary to work respectfully and effectively with patients and staff in a culturally diverse work environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
• Strong interpersonal and empathy skills
• Demonstrate analytical and organizational, problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict management/resolution skills
• Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and precision in decision making
• Knowledge of ACGME requirements
• Knowledge of collaborative/supervisory agreement requirements for advanced practice providers
• Ability to work varying hours as determined by changing clinic and CCH needs
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and stressful environment
• Able to function autonomously and as a team member in a multidisciplinary team
