About the Role
The Attendant Technician - Coilers operates and maintains coilers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring production meets quality and output standards. This role involves multitasking, problem-solving, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Operate 3-4 coilers simultaneously to produce acceptable coils that meet or exceed minimum output levels.
- Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities in product, process, or system.
- Conduct quality checks to identify and record issues related to product, process, or quality system.
- Recommend or suggest improvements for products or processes.
- Identify and control nonconforming products until deficiencies are corrected.
Safety
- Understand and comply with all safety rules and OSHA regulations.
- Report all accidents, unsafe conditions, or unsafe acts immediately.
- Always wear proper PPE and maintain a clean, hazard-free work area.
Quality
- Perform quality checks and document results.
- Use and read a tape measure accurately.
- Identify non-conforming products or raw materials.
- Take individual responsibility for product and process quality.
- Suggest improvements to enhance product and process quality.
- Communicate issues to coaches and managers.
Production
- Operate 3-4 coilers simultaneously, using touch screens for setup and adjustments.
- Perform wire and fabric changes on coilers.
- Conduct minor autonomous maintenance activities.
- Maintain shadow boards for essential tools and equipment.
- Manually move coil baskets as needed.
General Duties
- Work with EOJ Trainers to acquire additional skills.
- Maintain TPM Standards for cleanliness of assemblers.
- Keep work area clean and free of debris.
- Adhere to the attendance policy and follow all work rules.
- Meet and exceed professional standards set by Leggett & Platt.
Requirements
- Understanding of safety procedures and programs (or pursuing formal education in this area).
- Familiarity with ISO9001 standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong math and computer skills.
- Ability to multitask and use critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills using Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.
