Attendant Care Provider - Psychosocial Services

About the Role

Provide assistance and constructive guidance to individuals in completing daily tasks and activities, training in life and social skills. Work may take place at an organizational facility, an authorized community or program location, and/or a client’s home. This position operates under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Ensure each client receives the highest level and quality of supportive care and guidance.
• Treat all clients with dignity and respect, providing effective assistance in completing daily tasks and activities.
• Deliver services in a timely and focused manner to meet or exceed organizational goals and expectations.
• Follow treatment plans and supervisory directives to support client-specific goals.
• Ensure all assistance complements program intent and outcomes.
• Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Protect client Personal Health Information in accordance with HIPAA and federal regulations.
• Engage supervisor in problem-resolution and guidance to ensure the client’s best welfare.
• Maintain regular and consistent communication with supervisors regarding scheduling, documentation, training, and problem-solving.
• Develop and maintain respectful, courteous, and professional relationships with clients and their families (as appropriate).
• Work closely with others involved in service delivery to meet client needs.
• Maintain positive, effective working relationships with staff and external community partners.
• Uphold and ensure compliance with internal policies, laws, and regulations.
• Model the organization’s values and mission at all times.
• Provide transportation and accompany clients to and from activities and appointments as directed.
• Assist in providing structured and constructive activities that support the client’s treatment.
• Help clients learn and practice daily living and social skills.
• Assist clients with problem-solving daily living situations.
• Complete all required documentation thoroughly, on time, and according to agency standards.
• Provide services individually or in a group setting as required.
• Engage individuals in a positive, constructive, respectful, and hopeful manner.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences.
• Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with persons with severe and persistent mental illness and/or serious emotional disturbance.
• Manage conflict effectively.
• Interact positively with staff, agency members, and teams, including active participation in supervision, meetings, and training.

Requirements

• Prior experience providing effective, efficient healthcare or welfare services preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a social services field preferred; high school diploma, G.E.D., or associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.

• Emotional capacity to manage self and clients who may act out or behave in a verbal or physical manner.
• Ability to effectively use devices, equipment, and computer systems required for the role.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to relate and work innovatively with clients at risk of hospitalization.
• Positive approach to complex mental health issues.
• Flexibility in assigned working hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
• Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences.
• Familiarity with mental health theory and practice.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must meet all pre-employment screening requirements and complete required organizational training.
• Must pass a background and security check.
