About the Role
A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a non-exempt, part-time Fitness Desk Associate on the St. Louis, MO campus. This position is responsible for working the fitness desk area, maintaining cleanliness, and providing customer service to guests.
Responsibilities
- Work a minimum of 3 shifts per week, which may include evenings.
- Clean fitness center equipment, including cardio equipment, fitness flooring, equipment mats, bathrooms, and concrete flooring.
- Provide excellent customer service for guests and instruct them on how to use cardio and strength equipment.
- Perform client fitness orientations.
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance and follow the guidelines of the recreational facility.
- Stay updated on new information and changes within the facility.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by monitoring the facility and addressing safety or cleanliness issues immediately.
- Exercise good interpersonal skills and assist others as needed, even outside regular duties.
- Perform public relations tasks such as answering phones and responding to inquiries.
- Check in and out fitness equipment.
- Meet schedules and deadlines, adhere to policies and procedures, and maintain excellent attendance.
- Enforce facility policies and university rules and regulations.
- Report problems, suggestions, or equipment issues to the direct supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Fitness experience preferred.
- One year of related work experience is preferred.
- Current American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification upon commencement of employment.

- Knowledge of fitness equipment and general fitness and exercise principles.

- Ability to prioritize tasks and operate office machines and equipment.
- Ability to learn new techniques and solve problems.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.

- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written and oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
