About the Role
Directly responsible to the Manager of Heavy Maintenance for the day-to-day management of company owned and/or operated out-of-service aircraft. This includes managing vendors and company personnel relevant to maintenance activities within the heavy check environment. Responsibilities encompass negotiation with contract maintenance vendors, service providers, engineering firms, and the aircraft manufacturer. Additionally, you will coordinate with other departments for tooling, personnel, and materials to ensure aircraft remain on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Asset Management: Plan, negotiate, and authorize payments while ensuring efficient utilization of manpower on aircraft. Consult with vendors on manpower issues and schedule other vendors as needed.
- Personnel Management: Interview prospective employees, mentor, train, and evaluate current staff. Resolve disputes between employees or between employees and vendors. Schedule personnel time and arrange travel and accommodations.
- Compliance: Ensure vendors perform maintenance using approved processes and procedures. Verify completion of proper return-to-service paperwork.
- General Management: Interface with other departments for timely and accurate company documentation (e.g., Company Engineering Orders). Oversee and observe employees and vendors in their duties, ensuring regulatory compliance for all maintenance activities.
- Administration: Sign, review, and process company documents related to vendors, employees, or materials.
Requirements
- High school diploma (required). Associate degree (desired). Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- Minimum of four (4) years of Heavy Maintenance experience.
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft, associated systems, and structures (767 or 757 experience/training required).
- Basic knowledge of personnel management and general leadership.
- A&P License with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Ability to travel on short notice.
- Passport (preferred).
Qualifications
- Associate degree (desired). Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- 10 years of Heavy Maintenance experience.
- 2 years of Maintenance Management experience.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
- Must comply with ATI attendance requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work at heights up to 80 feet.
- Work from ladders up to 10 feet.
- Climb up to 3 flights of stairs.
