Athletics Event Worker
About the role
The Athletics Event Worker position is a seasonal role (August - June) located in Providence, Rhode Island, part of the Ivy League's intercollegiate athletics program. This position assists game day management staff in various capacities such as operating the penalty box, helping with scoreboard operations, and other tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Aid in facility setup and breakdown for various sports throughout the academic year
- Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, specific game protocol as it pertains to Ivy League and NCAA rules
- During events, interact with and work alongside Athletic Communications staff, Event Management staff, and Marketing and Promotions staff
- In-game responsibilities include being a ball person for outdoor sports, a floor mop during basketball games, a penalty box operator during hockey, and assisting with the distribution of judge scores during gymnastics events
Qualifications
- A knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, specific game protocol as it pertains to Ivy League and NCAA rules
- Able to observe and react quickly to events on the field/court/athletic venue
- Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
- Available to work evenings and weekends
