Director of Experience and Belonging
The Director of Experience and Belonging reports to the Associate AD - Belonging and leads and supervises a number of student-employees. This role involves strategic leadership and guidance in fostering an environment of belonging, leading innovative event execution, and overseeing comprehensive data analysis to drive transformative change. Key responsibilities include:
- Select guest speakers and facilitators for belonging educational programs
- Select guest speakers and facilitators for belonging educational programs
- Direct the servicing and advising of minority student-athletes, focusing on LGBTQ+, SSA, ethnic/racial minorities, international student-athletes, and religiously diverse student-athletes
- Develop and implement leadership development programs that focus on increasing self-awareness, emotional intelligence, communication, motivation, culture creation, followership, peer-mentoring, and service leadership training
- Oversee the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
- Coordinate with campus departments including Office of Belonging, Multicultural Student Services, Women’s Services and Resources, International Student and Scholar Services, the Sorensen Center, and various university colleges
- Liaison and work closely with sports medicine professionals, including mental health staff, team trainers, and strength & conditioning department
Required Qualifications
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 year experience in secondary or higher education, diversity and inclusion, college athletics, student development, public administration, or related field
- Understanding of NCAA leadership development programs, events, and networks (e.g., Career in Sports Forum, Emerging Leaders Seminar, etc.)
- Strong public relations skills
- Event Planning experience
- Advanced computer and office skills
- Willingness to comply with NCAA and Big 12 Conference policy
- Understand the nature and mission of BYU and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and willingness to abide by the BYU Honor Code
- Ability and knowledge to interact with various BYU departments
PREFERRED Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- 3+ years of experience in secondary or higher education, diversity and inclusion/belonging, college athletics, student development, public administration, event planning or related field

What You’ll Do in This Role

- Typical Starting Pay: $73,000 – $95,000 per year
