About the role
The Athletics Communications Officer will manage an integrated athletics and communications program for Brown University's 38 varsity teams and related events. Reporting to the Director of Athletics Communications, this role involves game-day coverage, sports information and statistics, web coordination, social media management, and photography.
Responsibilities
- Manage game-day coverage, including live stats and graphics
- Create and maintain media guides, game-day graphics, and video highlights
- Coordinate social media platforms (X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube)
- Generate and curate social media content
- Operate live-statting software (e.g., NCAA LiveStats, StatCrew)
- Collaborate with student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff
- Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field
- One to three years of experience in sports-related public relations/social media and/or digital media
- Strong knowledge of creative storytelling and AP Style writing
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro)
- Proficiency with athletic Content Management Systems (SIDEARM Sports)
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel for away games and tournaments
Qualifications
- Exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations
- Annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting
- AED/CPR and First Aid certification (available at no cost through the Division)
