About the Role
This position is located in Stillwater, OK. The role involves athletic training administrative duties and assisting with the coordination of medical coverage for home and away contests, including scheduling of student and graduate assistant athletic trainers.
Responsibilities
- Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses
- Evaluation of athletic injuries
- Treatment of athletic injuries
- Counseling and education of student athletes
- Assist with coordination of medical coverage for athletic events
- Schedule student and graduate assistant athletic trainers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Health/Physical Education, Sports Medicine/Kinesiology, Athletic Training, or equivalent (degree must be conferred on or before agreed-upon start date)
- Post-graduate athletic training experience
- Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Board of Certification (BOC) and/or American Physical Therapy Association
- Licensed by the state of Oklahoma as an athletic trainer (or in the process of acquiring licensure)
- Must be NATA BOC certified
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA guidelines and universal precautions
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of NCAA Rules and guidelines, including the NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook
- Ability to lift in excess of 100 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in heat and changing weather conditions
- Experience and knowledge of organizing strength programs, especially for injured student athletes
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Health/Physical Education, Athletic Training, or Physical Therapy
- Experience working with Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist
- Certification by NASM as PES or by NSCA as CSCS
- Experience with aquatic rehabilitation
- Experience teaching clinical and practice skills in a CAHEP-approved Athletic Education Program
Schedule
Work schedule will vary according to practice and event schedules, including after business hours, weekends, and holidays. Availability may change due to facility access and weather conditions.
