Athletic Trainer (Springfield, MO High School)

About the role

Provide services in regards to prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports-related injuries. The overall goal is to maximize safe return to activity. The individual will also demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training and perform related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries
• Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information to identify patient requirements relative to age-specific needs
• Provide care needed for safe return to activity
• Demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training
• Perform duties in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards

Requirements

• Graduate of an athletic training program from an accredited college or university
• State of practice licensure or eligibility for Athletic Trainer licensure
• Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc.
• Professional Rescuer CPR or its equivalent
• Ability to work in clinical and/or outreach athletic training settings
• Adaptability to occasional odd hours, weekend work, and travel throughout the year

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in athletic training or related field
• Some experience in athletic training
• National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer

Skills & Knowledge

• Trained and capable of performing patient care
• Ability to assess and interpret patient data relative to age-specific needs

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Clinical and/or outreach athletic training settings
• Occasional odd hours, weekend work, and travel required
