Athletic Trainer (Springfield, MO High School)

About the role

Provide services in regards to prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports-related injuries. The overall goal is to maximize safe return to activity. The individual will also demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Responsibilities

• Prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries
• Assess patient data and interpret information to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs
• Provide care tailored to individual patient needs
• Perform related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Graduate of an athletic training program from an accredited college or university
• State of practice licensure or eligibility for Athletic Trainer licensure
• Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc.
• Professional Rescuer CPR or its equivalent

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Trained and capable of performing patient care
• Ability to assess and interpret patient data
• Adaptability to work occasional odd hours, weekends, and travel as required

Working Conditions

• Occasional weekend work and travel required throughout the year

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in athletic training or related field
• Some experience in athletic training (preferred but not required)
• National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer
