Job Summary

Evaluates, plans, instructs, and monitors athletic training programs to help athletes prevent damage, restore function, and reach maximum level of independence. This includes evaluating athletes’ sports‑related injuries, physical conditions, and needs; recommending a scientific care plan with schedule, treatment programs, and education; utilizing appropriate assistive devices; explaining and updating safety rules; implementing and monitoring rehabilitation and reconditioning programs; documenting and interpreting information from medical records, physicians, and families; and utilizing testing/evaluation techniques, including concussion testing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate athletes’ sports‑related injuries, physical conditions, and needs.
• Recommend and develop scientific care plans that include schedules, treatment programs, and education.
• Utilize appropriate assistive devices to protect athletes from injury.
• Explain and update safety rules governing daily training, recreational activities, and professional exercise equipment.
• Implement and monitor athletic training programs for rehabilitation and reconditioning based on diagnosis and real‑time condition.
• Document and interpret information from medical records, physicians, and families.
• Utilize testing and evaluation techniques to assess injuries, including concussion testing (neurocognitive, balance, vestibular/oculomotor).

Qualifications

• Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
• Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification.
• Licensure and/or registration in the state(s) of practice, or possession of multi‑state licensure privileges as required.
• Driver’s license may be required based on facility needs; must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category I or III drivers.
