Athletic Trainer, FT Days

About the Role

Provide services in regards to prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports-related injuries. The overall goal is to maximize safe return to activity. The individual will also demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training and perform related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Prevention, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic and sports-related injuries
  • Rehabilitation to ensure safe return to activity
  • Professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training
  • Assess patient data and interpret information to identify age-specific needs
  • Provide care tailored to patient requirements
  • Perform duties in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards

Requirements

  • Graduate of an athletic training program from an accredited college or university
  • State of practice licensure or eligibility for Athletic Trainer licensure
  • Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc.
  • Professional Rescuer CPR or its equivalent

Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to perform patient care and assess data reflective of patient status
  • Interpret appropriate information to meet age-specific patient needs
  • Adaptability to work occasional odd hours, weekends, and travel as required
  • Proficiency with therapeutic modalities, thermal and electric modalities, computers, dictaphones, cellular phones, and therapeutic equipment

Working Conditions

  • Clinical and/or outreach athletic training settings
  • Occasional weekend work and travel required throughout the year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in athletic training or a related field
  • Some experience in athletic training (preferred but not required)
  • National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer
