About the role

The Athletic Trainer serves as the primary healthcare provider for the District's intercollegiate athletics program, providing comprehensive sports medicine services including injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the athletic trainer for the District's athletic department, attending practices and games to provide on-site care.
  • Participates in injury prevention efforts, conducting physical examinations, medical referrals, and developing conditioning programs.
  • Evaluates and treats athletic injuries, administering first aid and CPR, and utilizing appropriate medical equipment.
  • Administers rehabilitation programs, monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintains accurate records and ensures the cleanliness and safety of the athletic training room.
  • Oversees the operations of the athletic training room, supervising student trainers and managing budgets.
  • Communicates with athletes, coaches, parents, and administrators regarding the health and well-being of student athletes.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, health sciences, or a related field.
  • At least three years of professional experience in athletic training, preferably in a collegiate setting.
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification.
  • State of California Athletic Training licensure.
  • Valid California driver's license and insurability under the District's vehicle insurance program.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of athletic injury prevention, recognition, management, and rehabilitation.
  • Ability to operate and utilize preventative diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and devices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Skills

  • Proficiency in using computers and standard business software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
