About the role

The Athletic Trainer will assist in evaluating and treating musculoskeletal injuries and sports-related injuries under the direction of a Sports Medicine Physician. Essential functions include practicing as a physician extender, assessing patients, developing rehabilitation programs, monitoring patient responses, educating patients, coordinating care, completing documentation, maintaining equipment, reporting repairs, engaging in marketing, and assisting with patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients to determine modifications of therapy and treatment needs in consultation with physician or other clinicians.
  • Develops rehabilitation programs addressing patient's short and long-term goals.
  • Maintains and inspects necessary equipment such as casting, splinting, wound care, and bandaging tools.
  • Monitors patient’s response to treatment and educates patients on rehabilitation programs, health needs, injuries, diagnosis, prognosis, and risks.
  • Coordinates care with other patient care providers as appropriate.
  • Completes appropriate documentation including reports, treatments, intake forms, message logs, etc.
  • Assists with casting, splinting, brace fitting, wound care, taking vitals, drawing up medications, performing tests, and assisting with procedures and concussion treatments.
  • File paperwork correctly and assist with obtaining prior authorizations when needed for procedures, imaging, or medications.
  • Assist with outreach ATCs as needed when proper documentation of supervising/directing physician for the Intermountain system is in place.

Requirements

Current license as an Athletic Trainer in state of practice, National athletic trainer certification, current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers, experience in a variety of computer programs including databases, word processing, and internet, and related working experience preferred.

Qualifications

Physical requirements include ongoing need for visual and manual dexterity, frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors, ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, and standing for extended periods of time. Driving may be required for remote or hybrid roles.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $26.74 - $41.28.
