Athletic Field Maintenance Crew I & II (Two levels dependent on expertise and Class A CDL)

Two positions available: Athletic Field Maintenance I and Athletic Field Maintenance II.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Texas driver’s license (Class A commercial driver’s license for Athletic Field Maintenance I).
  • Two years of experience in CFISD grounds department or athletic field maintenance related employment (three years for Athletic Field Maintenance I).
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
  • Ability to operate all lawn equipment (e.g., ZTR, reel mowers, line trimmer, blower).
  • Ability to use all lawn hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes).
  • For Athletic Field Maintenance I: Ability to operate necessary equipment for athletic field maintenance (e.g., tractors, front end loaders, sod cutter, dump trucks, backhoe, box blade, field paint machine, reel mowers).

Responsibilities

  • Mow, edge, and weedeat at football/soccer, baseball, and softball fields.
  • Paint lines at football/soccer, baseball, and softball fields during respective seasons.
  • Maintain long jump pits and shot put areas.
  • Prepare track facilities for track meets.
  • Assist with the installation and/or removal of athletic field turf.
  • Make repairs to athletic fields at high schools and middle schools, such as topdressing, cutting out lips on baseball/softball fields, and re-crowning football/soccer fields.
  • Apply field conditioner to baseball and softball infield dirt areas.
  • Add or level dirt areas at baseball and softball fields.
  • Monitor irrigation systems on all athletic fields.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Working Conditions

  • Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises.
  • Frequent district-wide travel.

Pay

  • Athletic Field Maintenance II: $15.51/hour (HS-5 salary, based on verifiable job-related experience).
  • Athletic Field Maintenance I: $16.61/hour (HS-6 salary, based on verifiable job-related experience).

Schedule

260 days per school year.
